Les revues de théâtre ne sont pas seulement une source d’informations pour l’historien du théâtre du XXe siècle. Elles doivent être appréciées et étudiées comme de véritables productrices de théâtre, et ceci considéré des deux points de vue : celui de la création théâtrale – en tant qu’elles sont les vecteurs d’une légitimation esthétique de la mise scène – et celui de la réception – puisqu’elles sont le lieu de la formation du spectateur.
Theatre Periodicals and Aesthetical Controversies in the 20th Century
Theatre periodicals are not only a source of information for historians of 20th-century theatre. They must be assessed and studied as full-fledged theatre producers, and this from both angles : that of theatrical creation – insofar as they are vectors of an aesthetic legitimisation of the production – and that of reception by the public – since they take a central part in the education of the spectator.
