Depuis près de trois decennies, Sylvère Lotringer introduit la pensée française auprès des lecteurs anglo-saxons. Ce fut d’abord, à partir de 1974 et pendant dix ans, l’aventure très singulière de sa revue Semiotext(e), à cheval sur les deux continents, qui combinait philosophie, art et politique et s’inventait de nouvelles formes à chacune de ses livraisons. Puis, ce fut, à partir de 1983, la création et le développement de la prestigieuse collection à laquelle la revue donna naissance : « Foreign Agents ».
Foreign Agents : Semiotext(e) in search of its America
For nearly three decades, Sylvère Lotringer has been introducing French thinking to Anglo-Saxon readers. First, from 1974 onwards and during ten years, it was the very singular adventure of her periodical Semiotext(e), at the crossroads between two continents, that combined philosophy, art and politics and invented new forms with each issue. Then, from 1983 onwards, was the creation and development of the prestigious collection to which the review gave birth : “Foreign Agents”.
