Rien ne prédestinait un bulletin de l’American Country Club of France, intitulé sans originalité aucune The Booster à devenir en 1937 une anthologie dadaïste des plus étonnantes et la plus drôle des revues. Alfred Perlès se vit confier la direction de la
revue et convia ses amis Lawrence Durrell, Henry Miller et Anaïs Nin à y apporter leur contribution. Ce qu’Alfred Perlès et Henry Miller entrevirent, ce fut une opportunité de « faire couler » une revue et, en même temps de faire un « brin d’histoire littéraire ». Les numéros d’abord en apparence anodins furent bientôt provocateurs, remplis d’obscénités, de jeux rhétoriques et de montages dadaïstes. Le directeur du club, scandalisé, menaça de poursuivre les rédacteurs en justice s’ils n’abandonnaient pas immédiatement le nom de Booster. La revue parut bientôt sous le titre de Delta et se métamorphosa sous l’impulsion de Durrell en une revue de poésie. Le dernier numéro devait paraître peu avant que la Seconde Guerre mondiale éclatât.
Nothing predestined a bulletin of the American Country Club of France, entitled without any originality The Booster to become in 1937 a “olni” : an astonishing dadaist anthology and the funniest journal around. Alfred Perlès find himself entrusting with the direction of the review and invited his friends Lawrence Durrell, Henry Miller and Anaïs Nin to make their own contribution. What Alfred Perlès and Henry Miller foresaw, was an opportunity “to wreck” a review and, to make a « bit of literary history » at the same time. The issues initially and seemingly insignificant were soon provocative, filled with obscenities, rhetoricals plays and Dadaists (assemblies or editing). The director of the club, scandalized, threatened to sue the writers if they immediately did not give up the name of « Booster ». The periodical soon came out under the title of Delta and was transformed, under the impulse of Durrell, in a review of poetry. The last issue was published short before the Second World War.
