Troisième Convoi : vingt ans de surréalisme… et après ?
Entre un mouvement surréaliste sans direction effective et les divers courants qui refusent, à la Libération, de se laisser enrôler sous la bannière d’un parti communiste omniprésent, une place est à prendre : c’est le grand pari des fondateurs de Troisième Convoi (1945-1951), Michel Fardoulis-Lagrange, son épouse Francine et le curieux Jean Maquet. Tous les collaborateurs doivent se situer par rapport au surréalisme, d’abord en l’absence d’André Breton, ensuite en fonction de la place que ce dernier doit retrouver à son retour des États-Unis. En réponse à la présence des intellectuels communistes de « l’autre côté », quelques-uns des plus grands personnages des années 1945-50, ne serait-ce que pour marquer leur différence, se retrouveront dans les cinq numéros de Troisième Convoi : Artaud, Bataille, Bonnefoy, Char, Henein, Paulhan, Michaux, Ubac…
Troisième Convoi : twenty years of surrealism… and then what?
Between a surrealist movement without effective leadership and the various trends that refused, at the Liberation, to let themselves be enrolled under the banner of an omnipresent communist party, a position was left to be occupied: such was the gamble made by the founders of Troisième Convoi (1945-1951), Michel Fardoulis-Lagrange, his wife Francine and the curious Jean Marquet. All collaborators were to take a stand in relation with surrealism, considering first André Breton’s absence, then the place which should be left for the latter to recover on his coming back from the United States. To counter the presence of communist intellectuals “on the other side”, some of the most important personalities of the years 1845-50, if only to mark their difference, wrote contributions to one or the other of the five issues of Troisième Convoi, including Artaud, Bataille, Bonnefoy, Char, Henein, Paulhan, Michaux, Ubac…
