Une revue norvégienne centenaire : Samtiden

par Per Thomas Andersen

In Norway, the neo-romantic 1890s had a privileged forum for political, scientific or religious debate : Samtiden. But it is with regard to literature that can best be understood how fertile a ground was offered thereby to writers such as Hamsun or Gaborg.
Their relationship with modernism and decline, their interest in and questioning of Nietzsche can be paralleled with similar concerns in the 1990s.
