The Théodore Balmoral Ventures

From 1985 to 2014, against the backdrop of a highly significant literary generation (Pierre Bergounioux, Christian Bobin, Pierre Michon), the journal Théodore Balmoral published fifteen thousand pages of French prose, poetry, and translations.
Under the direction of Thierry Bouchard–and influenced by Jacques Réda (along with Thierry Laget and Gilles Ortlieb)–it developed without a standard book-review section; instead, it cultivated a wealth of references, quotations, and eclectic assortments of texts, thereby multiplying stimuli for the reader and playing an active role in the bookselling landscape. Unflinching in the face of the worst aspects of the human condition (as seen in its work on Charlotte Delbo), the journal consistently maintained a high standard of literary integrity.
