Futuribles : birth and history of a futurology review

In July 1995, the two hundredth edition of Futuribles is published. Created in 1974 by Hugues de Jouvenel, it was intended to be « a forum where the future is discussed and debated ».

The main focus of the review is futurology but it also gives a large place to analysis and to its « forum », open to practioners and researchers in different fields. It contributes to debates – some of which it has initiated – on important social problems with political, social and ethical aspects : demographical ageing in Europe, the major technological risks or the evolution of European values (the main subject of this two hundredth edition). Finally, its the only monthly to systematically inform its readers on prospective activities forums, publications, seminars…
